On September 27, the Research and Demonstration Project on Efficient Gas Pre-Drainage Technology Using Surface Staged-Fracturing Horizontal Wells in the First Mining Area of Tianrong Coal Mine, run by Wuhai Energy, registered a daily gas output of 5,269.4 cubic meters. Its daily gas output has exceeded 5,000 m3 for seven consecutive days, marking a key step in the project’s advance control of surface gas hazards. This is of great significance for advancing the development and construction of the Tianrong mining area and the development and utilization of coalbed methane in the area.

The project is intended to effectively control gas and extract high-quality coal resources under complex geological conditions, thereby supporting the development and construction of the Tianrong mining area. Coal seams in the area are generally characterized by low permeability and high gas pressure, constraining normal mining. To address this challenge, Wuhai Energy has steadily advanced the implementation of the research and demonstration project on efficient gas pre-drainage technology using surface staged fracturing horizontal wells. Based on actual field conditions, it formulated specialized construction plans and safety technical measures, precisely controlled wellbore trajectories, adopted new processes including directional drilling and hydraulic pump-down perforating combined with bridge-plug perforating, and introduced new technologies including large-bore low-temperature soluble bridge plugs. These efforts overcame numerous technical challenges, achieved safe, stable, and continuous gas drainage, and ensured normal mine production.

Technical personnel will continue to strengthen drainage-production data analysis and on-site evaluation, adjust rotational speed based on fluid level changes in surface gas drainage and production wells, and control the drainage and production pace. This will ensure stable operation of the surface gas drainage and production wells while achieving continuous, efficient gas drainage, accumulating valuable experience for innovating the gas control model and for coalbed methane extraction and utilization in the Tianrong mining area.
