CHN Energy Jingran Thermal Power Named as Beijing Cleaner Production Model Case

Recently, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform released the 2025 Beijing Cleaner Production Case Compilation. China Shenhua’s Jingran Thermal Power distinguished itself among numerous enterprises in Beijing through  outstanding green practices and technological innovation.

The selected case presents the Company’s core achievements in energy conservation and carbon reduction, including mechanical-draft cooling tower temperature optimization, variable-frequency drive retrofitting of circulating water pumps, motor efficiency-grade upgrades, and comprehensive recovery of flue gas waste heat. These technical solutions are underpinned by big-data-driven precision energy analysis and a comprehensive intelligent control framework, offering clear advantages in smart operation and fine-grained management. Notably, the flue gas waste heat recovery technology efficiently captures waste heat from unit exhaust gas, simultaneously reducing natural gas consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. This not only enhances the unit’s heating capacity but also delivers considerable economic returns. Once the plant’s waste heat recovery system is commissioned, annual heating revenue is projected to reach RMB 48 million.

Committed to green and low-carbon development, the Company maintains pollutant emissions among the lowest in the industry, with dust and sulfur dioxide emissions approaching near zero over the long term. Through sustained technical improvements and intelligent retrofitting of its units, the Company has reduced its power generation carbon intensity by 13% compared with the initial operational phase. Its energy efficiency has consistently placed it among Beijing’s top gas-fired units, and it has earned the highest “5A” rating for multiple consecutive years in the national gas turbine efficiency benchmarking program, contributing to the development of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient modern energy system.
