Xinjiang Energy’s Hongshaquan No. 2 Mine Won First Prize in Public Safety Science and Technology Progress Award

On August 19, following review by the Public Safety Science and Technology Award Evaluation Committee, the project Research and Application of Key Intelligent Technologies for Open-Pit Mine Transportation Systems, conducted by China Shenhua’s Hongshaquan No. 2 Mine, was awarded the First Prize of this year’s award. This achievement signifies a significant breakthrough for Xinjiang Energy in open-pit mine transport safety, demonstrating that its key technologies, equipment, and system applications have reached advanced industry standards.

As a critical part of mine safety operations, open-pit transport systems have historically been plagued by high risks from mixed traffic of vehicles and personnel, delayed dispatching and command, and poor adaptability to extreme conditions. To tackle these persistent issues, the mine established a joint research team with academic institutions and focused on core technologies including intelligent fleet management, dynamic path-optimization algorithms, multi-scenario and three-dimensional safety warning, and reliable unmanned operation under extreme environments. The team successfully developed an integrated “vehicle-road-cloud” intelligent transport control system. Leveraging real-time sensing, cloud-based decision-making, and precision control, this system has effectively mitigated safety risks arising from mixed equipment movement and complex road conditions, and has transformed the mine’s approach from passive risk prevention to proactive early warning, and from experience-based driving to data-driven intelligent decision-making.

The project outcomes have been fully deployed across the mining site, reducing potential safety risks in the transport chain while delivering notable gains in both quality and operational efficiency. The experience offers a replicable and scalable model for the safe, intelligent, efficient, and green development of open-pit coal mines.
