Recently, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region announced the first batch of its industrial heritage list. The industrial heritage of Heidaigou Open-Pit Coal Mine of Zhunneng Group was successfully selected.
The heritage project of Heidaigou Mine includes 15 core items across four categories, covering production relics, decommissioned equipment, production sites, and historical documents, with historical, technological, social, and artistic value. As the first ultra-large open-pit coal mine independently designed, constructed, and operated in the People's Republic of China, this mine pioneered the national model of integrated coal-electricity-railway operation and served as a landmark project for the strategic westward relocation of China's national energy industry. After its completion, the mine became a national hub for open-pit mining technology innovation, serving as both a testing ground and incubator for mining equipment transitioning from importation and assimilation to independent innovation. It established a milestone for open-pit core mining technologies evolving from following to leading, and created a national benchmark for intelligent transformation and autonomous mining. While building a model for low-carbon development within a high-carbon industry and an exemplary green mine, the mine has also acted as a stabilizer and ballast for energy security in west-east coal transportation, driving local economic development, and upholding the green development philosophy.
Industrial heritage of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region refers to industrial remains formed during the region's long-term industrial development, and hold high historical, technological, social, and artistic value. According to the Management Measures for Industrial Heritage of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the regional industrial heritage is subject to dynamic management, with a validity period of five years and a review every five years thereafter. This successful selection into the autonomous region's industrial heritage list will enhance the company's brand influence and industry recognition, effectively promote industrial culture inheritance, drive the development of industrial tourism, cultural and creative parks, and science education bases, and achieve both heritage protection and adaptive reuse, thereby creating new economic and social benefits for the company.
