Recently, Baoshen Railway completed the de-reservation of six HXN6 hybrid diesel-electric locomotives, and four units have been officially put into operation.
The company followed strict operational code to ensure smooth de-reservation and launch. It cooperated with locomotive manufacturers to conduct meticulous inspection and commissioning on power battery systems, diesel generator sets, braking systems and running gears, and arranged dedicated personnel to complete trial operation of new locomotives to meet all technical specifications.
The HXN6 locomotive is China's first new energy locomotive certified with dual qualifications by the National Railway Administration. It adopts dual power supply consisting of power battery packs with 1.2686 MWh capacity and diesel generator sets with 1.25 MW power. The locomotive gives priority to battery power during operation and features outstanding economic, energy-saving and eco-friendly advantages. Compared with traditional diesel locomotive, this model cuts fuel consumption by 30% to 40%, reduces pollutant discharge by three to five tonnes, and decreases carbon emissions by 280.5 to 467.5 tonnes annually, with single locomotive traction capacity exceeding ten thousand tonnes.
