Guangxi Beihai Power Plant Was Included in Typical National 5G Factory Application Practices

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released the 2025 Typical Application Practices of 5G Factories, which selected 100 advanced and exemplary 5G factory cases covering the raw material industry, equipment industry, consumer goods industry, electronic information industry, energy and transportation. The 5G Factory of CHN Energy Guangtou Beihai Power Plant, submitted by Guangxi Beihai Power Plant, stood out from thousands of factories and became the only selected case in China’s power generation industry.

A 5G factory integrates new-generation information and communication technologies represented by 5G to build new industrial Internet infrastructure. It forms an advanced factory featuring extensive connection of production units, deep integration of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT), full utilization of data elements and efficient empowerment of innovative applications, representing the deep integration of “5G + Industrial Internet” in the industrial sector.

As the largest regulating and supporting comprehensive energy base in Guangxi in terms of installed capacity, Beihai Company has in recent years advanced digital applications in production operation, equipment maintenance, safety management and business management with the support of “5G + Industrial Internet”, and gradually established an integrated management and control system covering personnel, machinery, materials, methods and working conditions. Attaching great importance to the development of digital infrastructure, the company has achieved full network coverage in key plant areas through a 5G private network, built a unified data platform, improved data standards and interface systems, broken down data barriers between systems, and enhanced data collection, transmission, storage and sharing capabilities to provide fundamental support for various business applications. It has consolidated the foundation of production operation management, promoted visual modeling of production units and real-time monitoring of equipment status, and strengthened centralized display and dynamic analysis of operating parameters, enhancing the timeliness and accuracy of production process control and operation regulation. Focusing on the intelligent upgrading of safety management, the company has applied “5G + AI” technology to identify violations and conduct linkage disposal, forming an integrated management mechanism of identification, early warning and response. It has strengthened on-site operation control through access management and intelligent broadcasting, and has carried out non-contact status monitoring for staff engaged in high-risk operations. These measures have improved personnel risk identification and dynamic control, and enhanced safety risk prevention and process management. The company has strengthened intelligent support for equipment maintenance, promoted intelligent inspection terminals and online monitoring devices, and realized automatic identification and precise handling of anomalies with AI, increasing inspection efficiency by three to five times and significantly reducing manual risks and labor intensity. To improve quality and efficiency in business management, the company has built a comprehensive production operation analysis platform, strengthened comprehensive analysis and application of unit operating parameters and energy efficiency indicators, and supported the optimization of operation modes and fuel management strategies, shifting energy efficiency management from post-event analysis to process control.
