Unit 4 of Jiangxi Shenhua Jiujiang Company’s Phase II Project successfully passed 168-hour full-load trial operation and officially commenced commercial operation on October 21. This marks the high-quality and efficient commissioning of both two 1,000 MW coal-fired units in the Phase II project, bringing the plant’s total installed capacity to 4,000 MW. It becomes the first power plant in Central China with four million-kilowatt units and the largest clean coal power enterprise in Jiangxi Province, injecting new momentum into energy supply security.
As a major project in Jiangxi’s 14th Five-Year Plan and a supporting clean coal power initiative, this Phase II expansion is the first coal-fired power project completed and operational during the province’s 14th Five-Year Plan period. The project integrates 58 advanced technologies representing domestic leadership in wide-load high-efficiency flexibility, energy conservation, environmental protection, and intelligent power generation. It features single-row serpentine tube high-pressure heaters and deep utilization of flue gas waste heat. Employing highly synergistic intelligent environmental protection equipment and systems, including magnetic bearing oxidation air blowers and circulating water treatment, the project achieves zero liquid discharge from the entire plant’s water systems and ultra-low emissions of air pollutants. The integration of new equipment, such as Harbin Steam Turbine’s advanced 1220-class last-stage blades, tilting-pad bearing support for the turbo-generator, and full-alloy lining environmental desulfurization systems, significantly enhances unit flexibility and advancement, establishing an engineering benchmark and practical reference for the power industry’s Five New technology system.
Throughout construction, the Company adhered to high-standard commencement, high-level construction, and high-quality commissioning. It comprehensively strengthened management of safety, quality, schedule, investment, and materials for the Phase II Project, advancing construction scientifically and efficiently. The project fully implemented an intelligent construction site management system, leveraging digital platforms to enable digital management and significantly improve construction quality and efficiency. A safety risk early warning system was introduced to monitor equipment operational status in real time, providing robust technical support for long-term, safe, and stable unit operation. The project organization proceeded smoothly with standardized construction management, ranking among the top performers in construction progress and site management nationally for similar projects.
With the completion of this project, the Company has become Jiangxi’s largest, highest-parameter, best-performing, and most efficient clean coal power enterprise. Key environmental emission indicators, including sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and dust concentration, are all significantly lower than the national ultra-low emission standards, achieving green, clean, and efficient operation. The project’s operation will further meet Jiangxi’s rapidly growing electricity load demand, effectively alleviate peak power pressure, optimize the provincial energy structure, reduce reliance on external power purchases, substantially enhance Jiangxi’s energy supply guarantee capacity, significantly strengthen power supply capability, and provide strong impetus for local economic and social development.
