On October 27, Huanghua Port’s general cargo terminal welcomed its first container ship carrying fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) under the Double Pendulum transport model—the Tianxiang 63. The ship successfully unloaded natural mineral water from the Jilin Changbai Mountain region, marking a breakthrough for the Double Pendulum model beyond traditional cargo categories into high-value-added sectors like FMCG.

As a key initiative for building an efficient multimodal transport hub, the Double Pendulum model enables seamless two-way cargo flow between Jinzhou Port and Huanghua Port through integrated “rail-sea-road” transport. This pilot shipment featured premium natural mineral water produced by Nongfu Spring’s Jingyu and Linjiang factories. Utilizing the “rail-sea-road” method, the goods were first transported by rail from Jilin Changbai Mountain to Jinzhou Port, transferred to COSCO Shipping 40HQ containers, shipped via Tianjin Port to Huanghua Port, and finally delivered to North China markets by road, completing a door-to-door logistics chain from Changbai Mountain to North China.

This business innovation demonstrates the feasibility of the Double Pendulum model for FMCG transport. Through precise scheduling and efficient coordination, Huanghua Port and the origin port’s container units jointly optimized handling procedures, achieving “direct transfer without cargo grounding” and ensuring seamless port operations. Compared to traditional transport methods, this model effectively shortens logistics cycles, reduces overall costs, fully leverages synergies between China Shenhua’s logistics system and Nongfu Spring’s supply chain, and accumulates valuable experience for high-value-added cargo transportation.

Moving forward, Huanghua Port will further optimize existing transport models including “road transport”, “road-rail intermodal”, and “road-sea intermodal”, while continuously expanding containerized Double Pendulum and “sea-rail intermodal” services. This will drive the diversification of the port’s cargo structure and inject strong momentum into building a world-class port.
