Baoshen Railway has recently successfully completed the first 10,000-tonne disassembly test for the phase III of the Research and Application of Heavy-haul Train Group Operation Control System Technology project.
This test primarily utilized two SS4B electric locomotives and two HXN3 diesel locomotives. It was conducted on the Baoshen North Line, spanning from Wanshuiquan South Station South Yard to Nalingoumen Station, covering six stations and five block sections. The test involved H3-level functionality of the heavy-haul train group operation control system. The four locomotives employed the onboard H3-level function for train control, separately hauling two 10,000-tonne empty trains (each consisting of 100 wagons), one shorter loaded train, and one single locomotive. Operations were strictly performed using the onboard equipment according to the designated sequence. The test achieved a departure interval of just 5 minutes for the 10,000-tonne trains and successfully accomplished the precise assembly and disassembly of the heavy-haul unit trains.
The project had previously completed its Phase Ⅱ test using “four stations and three block sections” on the Baoshen North Line, validating the basic functions of heavy-haul train group operation. The success of this Phase III test has laid a solid foundation for subsequent tests on different unit train tracking functions, group operation experiments for 10,000-tonne trains, and the overall optimization and widespread application of the system.
