Recently, the 8th Central SOEs QC Group Achievement Presentation Competition concluded in Guangzhou, Guangdong. The Red Intelligent Inspection QC group from Shuohuang Railway stood out with its achievement, Development of a Digital Intelligent Rail Flaw Detector, earning the First Prize in the competition.

As the latest innovation in flaw detection technology, Development of a Digital Intelligent Rail Flaw Detector integrates digital technology with convolutional neural network algorithms to intelligently identify defects. The project innovatively enhances traditional 9-channel flaw detectors by developing a new detector with 13-channel centralized detection capabilities. It also pioneers the use of a three in one combined probe module, simplifying operational procedures. With algorithm improvements, the device enables intelligent analysis of detection results, significantly boosting work efficiency and meeting the diversified and precise demands of railway inspection. The newly designed titanium alloy body weighs 10 kilograms less than the previous model, reducing both labour intensity and safety risks. Additionally, the device is equipped with a recording function that captures real-time images of rail conditions and operations, providing valuable data for analysis and traceability. The innovation has achieved five core technologies, applied for three patents, and published three national-level papers. It fills a technological gap in China by enabling intelligent defect judgment and multi-scenario compatibility for compact flaw detectors, thereby ensuring the safe operation of heavy-haul railways and driving intelligent advancements in the industry.
