On July 5, the first phase of the caterpillar track welding robot research project launched by Zhungeer Energy Group passed the acceptance inspection, marking that the company’s caterpillar track welding repair has entered an intelligent era.
The caterpillar track welding robot is a new type of welding equipment capable of carrying out intelligent damage detection and repair for caterpillar tracks of mining vehicles in open-pit coal mines. It can achieve streamline operations including automatic positioning, snatching, assembly, cutting and welding for caterpillar tracks of various mining vehicles. The robot can perform intelligent testing, recording, analysis and evaluation of damaged caterpillar tracks, and then conducted cutting and welding repair operations in an optimal manner.
At present, the robot can complete welding repair for a single device within 30 minutes. Compared to manual operations, it can considerably save time and reduce labor intensity. Test shows that the welding joints by the robot has no pores and cracks, and the welded surface of the caterpillar tracks is even, smooth and refined compared with manual welding. Moreover, it can effectively free the workshop from the odor and dust caused by the manual cutting of the caterpillar tracks, so as to achieve pollution-free operations.
After passing the final acceptance, the robot will be gradually applied in a full range of mining crawler vehicles such as bulldozers and drilling rigs, thus giving full play to its intelligent functions.
