On August 31, the Buertai Mine of Shendong Coal completed the intelligent upgrading of nitrogen generators. With 3 sets of nitrogen generators achieving unattended operation, staff are downsized by 12, improving efficiency significantly.
Buertai Mine has Class I spontaneous combustion tendency of coal seams, which can be easily combusted. In order to eliminate internal causes of fire, nitrogen injection into the underground goafs is necessary. The operation of nitrogen applicators requires manual observation of pressure, oxygen concentration, nitrogen flow and other parameters in real time, which increases labor cost. And during the injection, nitrogen leakage may cause safety hazards.
To address this problem, the intelligent centralized control crew of the second electromechanical team, which is formed by university graduates, studied on intelligent upgrading by making use of RS485 communication function of the PLC controller equipped on nitrogen applicator. The crew achieved real-time remote monitoring of on/off operation of the nitrogen applicator, exhaust pressure, nitrogen flow, oxygen concentration and other parameters. After the upgrading, the system realized “one-click on/off” of the underground nitrogen generator unit, centralized underground control, remote operation monitoring, and real-time monitoring of other operating parameters. With staff downsized, operation efficiency is improved.
