The results of the 8th National Equipment Management and Technological Innovation Achievements Conference, hosted by the China Association of Plant Engineering, were recently unveiled. The project Innovative Achievements in MTO Unit Regenerator Cyclone Separator Maintenance Methods, submitted by China Shenhua’s Baotou Chemical Olefin Plant, won the national first prize, demonstrating the industry’s high recognition for the plant’s sophisticated equipment management capabilities.
As a prestigious industry event in China’s equipment management sector, this conference was themed High-End Development, Intelligent Empowerment, Green Leadership, and Integrated Innovation. It covers a broad spectrum of fields including petrochemicals, coal chemicals, electric power, and coal mining, showcasing exemplary innovations in equipment management. The award-winning project directly addresses long-standing industry challenges, including the high risks associated with confined-space operations in traditional maintenance, difficulties in coordinating cross-operations, prolonged construction timelines, and difficulties in meeting installation precision. To overcome these challenges, the team developed an innovative technical framework around “integral package lifting, simultaneous internal and external construction, and external assembly and installation,” supported by four core management modules. This integrated solution combines specialized tooling development, process optimization, and standardized management, effectively breaking the constraints of conventional serial workflows. Practical application has validated that this technology reduces the core maintenance period from 56 days to 32 days, lowers operational safety risks, fills a technical gap in domestic equipment maintenance of this type, and offers replicable best practices for similar coal chemical facilities.
The company has consistently pursued the goal of long-term, safe, and stable equipment operation, leveraging technological innovation as a key driver for ensuring supply security, improving quality, and boosting efficiency. It has routinely mobilized frontline technical staff to conduct R&D, resulting in a number of industry-recognized innovations. Building on this award, the company plans to accelerate the broader adoption of this technology across its coal chemical operations to continuously unlock greater innovation-driven value.
