Recently, China Energy Guangdong Qingyuan Power Plant Phase II extension project of two 1,000MW coal-fired power generating units was officially approved by Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
As a key project in Guangdong Province in 2022, featuring the most advanced secondary reheating ultra-supercritical technology, the project will build two 1,000MW coal-fired power generating units and undertake the responsibility of energy security and supply in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with the objective of "green benchmark power supply in the region". The project boasts advanced technologies such as home-made intelligent control system (ICS), A Press Start (APS) and deep peak regulation. While planning and constructing coal terminals, and auxiliary production facilities for electrochemical energy storage and comprehensive energy utilization, it will pave the way for further realization of heat supply in surrounding industrial parks and flexible operation mode of interacted transportation and storage between coal terminals and railroads.
With a total investment in Qingyuan Power Plant Phases I and II up to RMB 15 billion, the investment in Phase II is approximately RMB 7.2 billion. Upon construction, it will play an important role as the main channel for "West-East Electricity Transmission Project" and an important power supply support point for the northern power grid in Guangdong Province. It will effectively promote the coordinated social and economic development of the region, making a great contribution to the regional development pattern of "One Core Region, One Belt and One Area" and the revitalization of the east and west area of Guangdong province.
