As of August 15, Huanghua Port had cumulatively shipped 815.77 million tons of coal through silos. With labor productivity per capita at an industry-leading level for a long time, Huanghua Port robustly underpinned China’s energy supply in a stable manner.
As a specialized coal transportation port, Huanghua Port is the first one in the world to apply large-scale coal storage silo technique. It counts 48 silos in total, with the combined maximum coal storage capacity up to 1.44 million tons. The silo technique integrates environmental protection, energy saving and high efficiency, features closed storage, and effectively removes flying dust arising from coal shipping and storage. Compared with the traditional storage yard, the silos reduce the average turnover rate by 64.4% due to the mode of “fast in and fast out”. The silos system runs efficiently and stably. In the past five years, the efficiency of the unloading & reclaiming and loading processes reaches 5,326 tons/hour and 5,504 tons/hour respectively, doubling that of the conventional storage yard. In addition, energy consumption per ton is 8% lower than that of the conventional storage yard in the process of operation. Silo workload accounts for more than 50% of coal shipment volume in Huanghua Port. Silo technology, together with “O”-type car dumpers, double-sided ship berthing and other equipment and techniques, has undertaken nearly 15% of the national gross volume of transportation of coal from the north to the south. Four car dumpers and eight berths jointly set industry record for annual coal shipment volume of over 100 million tons for five consecutive years. Huanghua Port plays a mainstay role in the national energy supply support strategy.
