On July 13rd, the first HXN6 Hybrid Locomotive No. 1002 was formally put into operation in Baotou-Shenmu Railway.
HXN6 Hybrid Locomotive is a high-power hybrid locomotive independently developed by China. Its power source is composed of a large-capacity battery unit and a diesel engine generator. Depending on the load and working conditions, the locomotive can be driven by the power battery pack and/or the diesel generator set. Compared with the previous diesel locomotive, it can save fuel by 30% and reduce the noise of the diesel engine by more than 85%.
For the purpose of safe and smooth operation of this locomotive, Baoshen Railway Group not only carried out many professional training for technical personnel, maintenance personnel and train crew, but also conducted two trial runs and one traction test before the formal launch.
