On March 13, Shenhua Railway Equipment Co., Ltd. started C5 overhaul of Shenhua CEA1A1 AC electric locomotives, marking a new breakthrough in overhauling heavy-duty electric locomotives.
To continuously improve the overhaul procedures for heavy-duty electric locomotives, the company optimized the overhaul work flow, shortened the repair period, cemented technical foundations and improved the repair quality. Based on a summary of the trial overhaul procedure in 2019 and the review of the performance of the locomotives over the last two years, the company continuously pushed for localized overhaul of large-size components, standardized the work flow, procured spare parts in advance and strengthened training for technicians. It reached out clients for repair plans, included the maintenance into locomotive operation management system and kept close watch on the production progress. The C5 overhaul of Shenhua CEA1A1 AC electric locomotives has been proceeding smoothly.
The power of Shenhua CEA1A1 AC electric locomotives can reach 14,400 kilowatts, sufficient for the long-routing and heavy-haul transportation for the Group. Since they were put into operation, the locomotives have propelled high-efficient development of heavy-duty rail equipment in China, and generated enormous spillover economic benefits. Their operation alleviated the insufficient rail capacity for transporting coal from western China to the eastern regions, and laid solid foundation for future mass C5 overhaul of Shenhua CEA1A1 AC electric locomotives.
