Recently, CHN Energy Zhunneng Group wins the honor of “Innovation Power · Exploration Enterprise for New Natural Economy” in the appraisal event of “2022 GoldenBee CSR China Honor Roll”. In addition, its CSR practice case, entitled “Answer of CHN Energy Zhunneng Group for Ecological Civilization Construction”, has been selected into 2022 GoldenBee Responsible Competitiveness Casebook, thereby becoming a featured sample.
CHN Energy Zhunneng Group always adheres to the guideline of “equal emphasis on ecological environmental protection and coalfield development”, continuously introduces and innovates energy-saving and emission-reduction processes, and sets a model for green mining and low-carbon development in the energy industry. It constantly optimizes open-pit mining processes, and innovates industry-leading technologies. Technologies developed by CHN Energy Zhunneng Group, namely “Aluminum Oxide Extraction from Coal Ash through One-step Acid-dissolving Method” and “Hydrothermal Impurity Removal”, set a precedent of valuable elements collaborative extraction from coal ash for high-value utilization. It gradually builds an industrial system of “Nano Hydrocarbon Fuel Power Generation—Photovoltaic New Energy—Green Electrolytic Aluminum”, and rolls out a new-type electrolytic aluminum industry chain characterized by “low carbon, green, security and convenience of storage”. “Photovoltaic New Energy”, “Thermal Power Three-source Device” and “Green Electrolytic Aluminum” jointly constitute “an Iron Triangle” for the so-called “Source-Network-Load-Storage” Integrated Low-carbon Circular Economy, thereby forming an intelligent, safe and efficient energy Internet. It innovates the comprehensive bioremediation technology of refuse dumps, diversifies the vegetation in the mining areas, develops comprehensive bioremediation technology of open-pit mine dumps, and completely improves the barren soil by means of organic bioremediation with fungal. It vigorously gains ground in photovoltaic agriculture in mining areas and modern high-quality and high-efficiency agriculture of fruits, forests, vegetables and livestock, and blazes an integrated transformation path to convert “lucid waters and lush mountains” into “invaluable assets”. Through the four-in-one concerted efforts for “mining, reclamation, animal husbandry and gardening”, “Saihanba” Culture, unique to CHN Energy Zhunneng Group, has taken shape. Moreover, CHN Energy Zhunneng Group joins hands with local partners to build eco-friendly agriculture and animal husbandry breeding bases, efficiently utilizes land resources in mining areas, and contributes to poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
Under down-to-earth practices over years, CHN Energy Zhunneng Group has earmarked a total of RMB1.671 billion for reclamation and greening.
The total area of reclamation and greening has reached 3,422 hectares. Vegetation coverage has increased from 25% to over 80%, while reclamation rate has reached 100%. The mining and reclamation was finished at one time. Ecosystem structure has changed from simple to complex, and biological population has tended for diversification instead of simplification. The ecological balance system has been in an early form and is embracing virtuous circle.
Now, the exuberant and vibrant reclamation area of CHN Energy Zhunneng Group has become a good example and benchmark for environmental protection and ecological governance in the whole industry, which has been successively appraised as “The Most Beautiful Mine of China” by the National Energy Administration, “National-class Green Mine” and “Jungar National Mine Park of China” by the Ministry of Natural Resources. In 2022, “Case on Ecological Restoration of Mining Area” has been included into a report of World Economic Forum, entitled “Seizing Business Opportunities in China’s Transition Towards a Nature-positive Economy.” Project of “Ecological Protection in the Yellow River Basin and Green Kinetic Energy Conversion Practice of CHN Energy Zhunneng Group” has been awarded with Special Prize of CHN Energy Group Incentive Fund.

Since 2008, as a non-profit social responsibility appraisal event, “GoldenBee CSR China Honor Roll” has been consecutively launched by GoldenBee Think Tank and China Sustainability Tribune (a magazine administered by the Ministry of Commerce).
