NDRC announced the target of national coal transportation volume for 2007

NDRC has declared the control target of national coal transportation volume for next year. The volume is 738 million tones, including 531 million tones of thermal coal. NDRC also indicates that the policy of “coal price pass through” will be carried out again in order to straighten the relation between coal and power parties, and prepare for the on-grid tariffs bidding.

It is expected that the general demand and supply of coal for next year will be in balance. However, it is possible that some regions may experience seasonal shortages in coal supply because of the lack of transportation capacity.
